Booking a DJ for an Office Party at a Hotel in Winnipeg (2026)

If your office party is at a hotel or conference venue in Winnipeg, book the DJ in two steps: first ask the hotel what it allows, then ask the DJ how they’ll work with it. Hotels have their own rules for outside vendors, sound and setup, and knowing them early saves surprises on the night. Send us your date, venue and guest count, and you can compare options with prices for DJs who are free that day.

Ask the hotel first

Before you book a DJ, ask your hotel’s event or catering contact:

  • whether you can bring your own DJ, and whether there’s a fee for outside vendors;
  • whether the DJ needs to send proof of insurance;
  • when the DJ can load in, where they unload, and which elevator or dock to use;
  • whether there’s a sound limit in the room, and what time the music has to stop;
  • whether the room has its own sound system and microphone the DJ can use.

Pass the answers to us with your request, so each DJ can tell you how they’d handle them.

The hotel’s sound or the DJ’s

Some hotel ballrooms have a house sound system. A DJ can sometimes plug into it, or bring their own speakers. Tell us which you’d prefer, and ask the DJ:

  • whether they’ll use the house system, their own, or both;
  • whether they’ve worked with a hotel’s sound team before;
  • who looks after the microphone for speeches: the DJ or the hotel.

If you also have a projector or video, tell the DJ, so they can plan where they plug in.

Set up the room

  • Put the DJ booth near a power outlet, with the dance floor in front of it.
  • Keep the booth away from the doors and the bar, where people gather.
  • If dinner is in the same room, ask the DJ to keep the music low until the speeches are over.

Plan the night

A DJ plays for the hours you book, from their booth, and some also MC. Tell the DJ:

  • when guests arrive and when dinner is served;
  • when speeches or awards start, and who’s speaking;
  • when you’d like dancing to start, and when the music has to end.

If guests might want karaoke, ask whether the DJ offers it, and whether the hotel allows it in your room.

Questions to ask the DJ

  1. Have you played office parties at hotels or conference venues before?
  2. Will you use the hotel’s sound system or bring your own?
  3. Can you MC, and handle the microphone for speeches?
  4. How do you build the music from dinner to dancing?
  5. Do you offer karaoke?
  6. When will you arrive, and how long do you need to set up and pack up?
  7. Can you send proof of insurance if the hotel asks?

What changes the price

The price depends on how many hours you book, whether it’s a Saturday or in the holiday season, sound and lighting if the venue has none, and travel outside Winnipeg.

How booking works with AGNT

AGNT is a booking company. You send us your date, venue and guest count, and we check which DJs in Winnipeg are free that day. We send you options with prices. You pick one, and it’s booked once the deposit is paid. If your first pick isn’t free, we’ll tell you and suggest DJs with a similar style who are.

Some of the Winnipeg DJs you can book through AGNT are DJ Henny, Headrush and Party Crasher. You can see more on DJs for hire in Winnipeg.

How we put this together

We wrote this from what people tell us when they ask for a DJ in Winnipeg: the type of event, the venue, the guest count and what they need the DJ to bring. It doesn’t list prices, because they depend on your date, your hours and what you need. You’ll see prices with the options we send.
