Booking a Comedian to Host a Corporate Event in Vancouver (2026)

A comedian can do more at a corporate event in Vancouver than a single performance. As host, they open the evening, introduce the speakers, keep the program on time and fill the gaps between its parts. It’s a different job from one performance, so say which you’d like when you ask. Send us your date, venue and guest count, and you can compare options with prices for comedians who are available that day.

Host, performer or both

  • A performance: the comedian performs once, from a microphone, to a room that’s listening.
  • A host: the comedian runs the program from start to finish, with short bits of material between its parts.
  • Both: they host, and give a longer performance at one point in the evening.

Tell us which you’d like, so each comedian can say whether they do it.

Send the running order

A host works from your running order. Send it early: when guests arrive, when food is served, who speaks and for how long, any awards, and when the event ends. Give the name and title of each speaker, and how to say any name that’s hard to pronounce.

A brief for the room

A work event mixes ages, roles and backgrounds. Ask for clean material, and tell the comedian anything to leave alone, such as company news or a sensitive topic. Say whether they can mention your company, or a few in-jokes you send them.

Keeping time

Ask how they’ll keep the program on time if a speaker runs long, and who on your team they should check with during the event.

Get the room ready

Check with your venue:

  • a microphone and a sound system everyone can hear;
  • light on the spot where the host stands;
  • a place near the stage for the host to wait between parts.

Questions to ask before you book

  1. Do you host corporate events, or perform only?
  2. Can you host and give a longer performance at the same event?
  3. Will you work from our running order and brief?
  4. Is your material clean?
  5. How do you keep the program on time if a speaker runs long?
  6. Can you send a short video of you hosting a recent event?
  7. If our venue asks for proof of insurance, can you send it?

What changes the price

The price depends on how long they’re on, whether they host the whole event, whether it’s a Saturday or in the holiday season, and travel outside Metro Vancouver.

How booking works with AGNT

AGNT is a booking company. You send us your date, venue and guest count, and we check which comedians in Vancouver are available that day. We send you options with prices. You pick one, and it’s booked once the deposit is paid. If your first pick isn’t available, we’ll tell you and suggest comedians with a similar style who are.

Some of the Vancouver comedians you can book through AGNT are Dusty Searcy, Julie Kim and Simon King. You can see more on comedians for hire in Vancouver.

How we put this together

We wrote this from what people tell us when they ask for a comedian in Vancouver: the type of event, the time of day, how long and who’s coming. It doesn’t list prices, because they depend on your date, how long they’re on and the comedian you choose. You’ll see prices with the options we send.

Your next step

Tell us your date, venue and guest count, and we’ll send you Vancouver comedians who are available that day, with prices: book a comedian in Vancouver
