Get those right, send us your date, venue and guest count, and you can compare options with prices for magicians who are free that day.

How close-up magic works at a big party

A magician can stroll between groups doing close-up magic, put on a stage show, or both. With close-up magic, the magician moves from group to group, and each group gets a few minutes of magic right in front of them. Nobody has to stop and sit down.

At a large party, the question is reach. Every group should get its turn before the magician’s time is up.

One magician or two?

Magicians’ own estimates of how many guests they can reach in an hour vary a lot. Ask each magician directly: how many guests can you reach in the time I’m booking? Then compare that with your guest count.

If the answer falls short, you have two choices: book more time, or book a second magician. Two magicians can split the room between them, which helps when the mingling part of the evening is short.

Mingling or seated?

Close-up magic is easiest while people are standing and talking, before dinner. Groups form and break up on their own, and the magician can move freely.

If guests will be seated, the magician goes table to table, and each table needs its turn. Plan around the courses: between courses works, during speeches doesn’t. With many tables, ask whether one magician can reach them all before dessert.

When in the evening

Plan around the order of your evening, for example: arrival and drinks, dinner, speeches, then dancing or mingling. Close-up magic fits best at arrival and drinks, or between courses. If you also want everyone to watch together, ask whether the magician does a short stage set after the speeches.

Make the room work

Guests need enough light to see the magician’s hands.

Leave room to move between tables and groups.

Tell the magician about any quiet areas, such as where speeches happen, so they can avoid them at the wrong moment.

If music is playing, ask the DJ or band to keep it low while the magic is going on.

Questions to ask before you book

How many guests can you reach in the time I’m booking?

Do you work mingling crowds, seated tables, or both?

Can you do a short stage set as well, and how long does it run?

Is your material right for a work crowd?

Can you send a short video of a recent corporate event?

When will you arrive, and what will you wear?

If our venue asks for proof of insurance, can you send it?

What changes the price

The price depends on how many hours you book, whether it’s a Saturday or in the holiday season, a bigger show or a second performer, and travel outside Metro Vancouver.

How booking works with AGNT

AGNT is a booking company. You send us your date, venue and guest count, and we check which magicians in Vancouver are free that day. We send you options with prices. You pick one, and it’s booked once the deposit is paid. If your first pick isn’t free, we’ll tell you and suggest a similar act who is.

Some of the Vancouver magicians you can book through AGNT are Vitaliy Savchyshyn, Rob Teszka and Daniel Zindler. It doesn’t list prices, because they depend on your date, your hours and how many magicians you need. You’ll see prices with the options we send.

Your next step

Tell us your date, venue and guest count, and we’ll send you Vancouver magicians who are free that day, with prices: book a magician in Vancouver

Featured photo by Michał Parzuchowski on Unsplash

For an office party of 100 or more guests in Vancouver, close-up magic works best when you plan…
"sfsi_plus_gutenberg_show_text_before_share":"
[1

136
post-12494","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-guides","cs-entry
"url2x":"https://agnt.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/mikey_wong_circle.png
["GET
